A masterplan to complete the restoration of the Chesterfield Canal has been launched by the Chesterfield Canal Partnership.

The vision is for the Chesterfield Canal corridor to be reclaimed as a place for the local community to live, enjoy, and be employed; for tourists and visitors to come, play and stay; for new and existing businesses to grow and prosper; and for nature and biodiversity to thrive.

There are two main reports with accompanying sets of plans. All can be downloaded below.

The Stage 1 Strategic Outline Case sets out proposals to create a 13-mile ribbon of high-quality activity alongside the stretch of the canal route between Chesterfield and Kiveton Park, whilst also connecting into local communities.

The Stage 2 Outline Business Case specifically focuses in more detail on the area of the Chesterfield Canal that passes through, or close to the boundary of, North East Derbyshire District.
