Restoration Overview

The restoration of the Chesterfield Canal will yield significant environmental, economic and social benefits. It will be challenging, however, none of the problems which we face have not already been successfully tackled on other waterways.

This summary statement is intended to provide readers with a broad framework for understanding the Chesterfield Canal restoration project. Further details of every aspect of the restoration can be found in our project proposal documents:-

These reports set out the social, economic, ecological, environmental, historical and archaeological context of the canal and assess the impact of restoration. Together they make a strong economic case for the waterways full restoration.
